Oaxaca City 2023 - Day 5
December 1, 2023
Last day in Oaxaca! But don’t you worry, we still managed to eat ourselves into a coma. Yet another early day (Justin is likely regretting let me plan so much for this trip) as our plan was to meet our tour guide at 9 AM. We did the Club Tengo Hambre tour called “Oaxaca Street Food Essentials.”
For some reason we thought it’d be a good idea to have coffee and breakfast first at Oaxaca En Una Taza and you’re probably wondering how we got to day five of this trip still thinking we’d need to eat anything before doing anything!
Oaxaca City 2023 - Day 4 - Cooking Class
November 30, 2023
So continuing off of Day 4 - Part 1, we had just wrapped up at the cultural museum and it was time to meet my fellow tourists for our cooking class. Justin was supposed to tag along but he wasn’t feeling well so I was going in solo.
I thought I wanted a snack first (which was a HUGE mistake) so I had a mushroom taco at Empanadas by Carmen. The empanadas there looked gigantic and I just wanted to tide myself over for the car ride.
Oaxaca City 2023 - Day 4
November 30, 2023
Thank goodness, a day where we didn’t have to wake up early! I was sleeping terribly because of my lingering dry cough in spite of attacking it with all sorts of medication.
Today we were able to leisurely get breakfast at Boulenc. Justin had been to this spot on his last trip to Oaxaca multiple times and loved it so I was excited to try.
I felt like the food delivered!
Oaxaca City 2023 - Day 3 - Hierve El Agua
November 29, 2023
There’s a woman-owned tour company in Oaxaca called Zapotec Travel By Lily. I heard about it from a coworker and was interested based on the fact it’s owned by a local woman and strives for sustainability and authenticity.
So we checked what tours they had in the week we’d be in Oaxaca and decided on the Hierve El Agua trip. The only trick was we would need to wake up at 6 AM.
Oaxaca City 2023 - Day 2 - Monte Albán
November 28, 2023
Our first full day in Oaxaca was an early one! I didn’t intend to pack our trip with so many tours and I do think there’s plenty to do on your own. But without a rental car and with only a few days there’s just a ton to get to.
First, we got coffee and breakfast at Oaxaca En Una Taza. My mocha was strong and not too sweet and I liked the fillings in the cream and blackberry pastry.
Oaxaca City 2023 - Day 1

Happy New Year to the occasional person (?) who reads my blog! Last year for Thanksgiving we headed down to Mexico for a wedding of a friend in Cancún. It was a ton of fun and we loved day drinking at the resort. Like usual we’re going to skip over that and get into the interesting part.
I’d heard a lot about Oaxaca before planning this trip. My partner had been before and loved it.
